Strong country programmes to tackle climate change help the Green Climate Fund’s (GCF) investments to be more strategic, transformational and country led. This will ultimately help countries to shift towards low carbon and climate resilient development. Given the importance of the country programmes, their content, quality and the level of government ownership is crucial.
The GCF is in the process of increasing its support to countries to produce high-quality, fully-owned and evidence-driven Country Programmes. OneWorld is the Africa lead in one of three consortiums selected to pilot a set of to support 25 national governments to produce Country Programmes. OneWorld is responsible for initial scoping and assessment of three African countries – Mozambique, Mauritius and Seychelles.
This programme will produce relevant analysis and information that will strengthen the quality of the selected country programmes. To ensure that the technical support offered to countries is responsive to the needs of stakeholders, support will be tailored to the varying national capabilities and circumstances of the countries participating in the programme.
