Joint Programming has emerged as a core element of the EU’s common aid effectiveness agenda involves the development of a joint analysis of, and a joint response to a partner country’s development strategy. It is a country-led process which is, to the extent possible, synchronised with the partner country’s strategy and led by the partner country. The overall objective is to contribute to improved Aid and Development Effectiveness through better coordination in EU and Member states’ programming of development cooperation and its implementation.

Under the Support to Joint Programming project, OneWorld offers expertise on the communication and knowledge management aspects for the programme, offering support and assistance in the deliverables, which include: the development of joint analyses of national development plans, briefings, reports; mapping and assessment of EU Member states’ thematic and geographical areas of donor intervention; and the development of Joint Programming digital products and newsletter – sharing Joint Programming experiences and case studies.
