OneWorld, with Habitat INFO, is leading a project to carry out a climate change risk and vulnerability assessment (RVA) for the Luapula, Muchinga, Northern and Western Provinces of Zambia, under the Pilot Program for Climate Resilience (PPCR).
This project follows two previous, related projects carried out by OneWorld under the Zambia PPCR:
The current project entails a literature review and desktop research, an RVA using additive GIS modelling and infrastructure risk mapping, to identify and analyse climate vulnerability hotspots. The team will also carry out an economic assessment of climate-related hazards.
Underpinning the process is participatory analysis and validation with district and national level stakeholders through four provincial workshops.
A ‘Training of the Trainers' workshop will be held, in parallel with development of a training manual.
These activities will help to build local capacity and enable the prioritisation of climate-resilient investment options through participatory processes.
