The Limpopo River Basin (LRB) is mostly semi-arid, with a highly variable climate, and is periodically exposed to severe droughts and floods. The water resources are already over-subscribed and there is an over-reliance on rain fed agriculture for food production.

The objective of the RESILIM Program of USAID Southern Africa is to enhance the resilience of people and ecosystems in the LRB by strengthening the capacity of the Limpopo Watercourse Commission (LIMCOM), and its key stakeholders, to address issues of climate change adaptation and biodiversity conservation within the context of trans-boundary integrated water resources management (IWRM).
